Description

The all-new MX178 combines Lake’s Sport Comfort Last with a durable off-road sole system, creating a versatile cycling shoe for gravel, trail, commuting, touring, and everyday riding.

Built around a broader, less tapered forefoot shape, the Sport Comfort Last promotes natural toe splay and additional toe space while maintaining a stable platform for efficient pedaling. Underfoot, a fiberglass-injected nylon midsole provides supportive power transfer with controlled flex, while durable TPU lugs add traction and stability away from smooth pavement.

SHOE COMPOSITION

• Last: CX/TX Sport Comfort Last - Redesigned with a broader toe box and stable forefoot platform, the Sport Comfort Last promotes natural toe splay, improved alignment, and reduced pressure points while maintaining pedaling efficiency.

  The anatomical forefoot shape helps reduce compression around the medial and lateral forefoot, allowing the toes to sit and spread more naturally under load. A stable forefoot platform maintains foot support and pedaling efficiency across longer rides and mixed terrain.

• Outsole: 60K force nylon composite sole. A stiff, lightweight nylon composite sole provides efficient power transfer with controlled flex for all-day comfort. The outsole includes 9mm of toe-to-heel cleat rail adjustability and extended midfoot positioning, allowing riders to fine-tune cleat placement for biomechanical efficiency and reduced strain. Expanded sole ventilation channels improve airflow, while oversized heel and toe walking pads increase traction and durability off the bike.

• Upper: The CX178 upper is constructed from durable, stretch-resistant microfiber with precision cut ventilation ports along the forefoot and midfoot. These ports promote airflow and moisture management without compromising structural integrity. The anatomical shaping of the upper complements the reengineered toe box, reducing compression at the medial and lateral forefoot and allowing the toes to expand naturally under load. This design improves comfort while maintaining a secure, performance-driven fit.
• Closure: BOA® Fit System L6 dial. The L6 dial provides fast, micro-adjustable tension across the midfoot. The system ensures even pressure distribution and quick entry/exit while keeping weight low. Combined with the supportive upper pattern, the closure delivers a glove-like, secure hold throughout the pedal stroke.
